When it comes to historical sites, in this case, Ratu Boko Temple becomes a good recommendation. This Hindu temple is located in Prambanan Sub-District and belongs to Sleman Regency. To be exact, the location is in Bokoharjo Village. The location is quite near to Prambanan Temple, which is only 3 km apart. For the information, it is not a temple per se. Instead, Ratu Boko is a pile or remains of an ancient palace called Kraton Ratu Baka.

The Nuance
Ratu Boko Temple is located on 196 meters above the sea level and it has the total area of about 250,000 meters per square. For the information, the site consists of several parts. That means tourists need to spend some stamina in order to explore all of them. In the middle part, many interesting objects reside including Paseban, Pembakaran Temple, main gate, ponds, field, etc. This becomes the prime attraction for sure. As for the southeast part, tourists may find Keputren complex, pendopo, and much more! For sightseeing, in this case, the best location is in the west part where hills reside.

Exploring Ratu Boko Temple

Each of them features a different number of doors, as well. Not to mention these come with beautiful carvings and inscriptions. Located near to the second gateway, tourists may find Batu Putih and Pembakaran Temple. Both of them are worth a photo shot, indeed.

The next allure that tourists can find in Ratu Boko Temple is a mysterious well located in the southeast of Pembakaran Temple. The locals call it Amerta Mantana. They gave the name due to the belief that the well comes with holy water! It is said the water gives good lucks and fortunes to its users, as well. According to local guides, local Hindus always use the water as the prime requirement in performing Tawur Agung Ceremony, which is done right before Nyepi Day.

What is more? Tourists should get to the east part of Ratu Boko Temple. Two mysterious caves and a giant pond reside in that area, after all. Here is the thing. Everyone should hire a local guide before entering or exploring the caves. It is better to be safe than sorry! Also, don’t forget to carry enough money to pay for the service later.
