Sawarna Beach

Sawarna beach, that located in Lebak, Banten province is now becomes more popular to be visited. In a decade, this beach that located along the forest beach in line with Pelabuhan Ratu, raise as one of most-visited beach and entitled as a new pearl in Southern Banten.

To reach Sawarna, the travelers from Jakarta can be start the journey from Tangerang, Tigaraksa and Malimping, Bayah. While, from Bandung, we can start from Pelabuhan Ratu, then down the coast to the west. Unfortunately, we have to ask to the people around, for there are still no apparent direction to the beach.

Many people do not know Sawarna beach, whereas this beach has a quite interesting charm. Sawarna presents a gently sloping beaches and white sandy beach. Along the coast, there is a lovely large rock, commonly known as Tanjung Layar. We can also feel the snorkel to greet variety of ornamental fish and coral reef, also find the beauty in Ciantir Coast, Tanjung Layar beach, Karang Bokor beach, Karang Seupang beach, Karang Taraje beach and the Gulf Legon Pari Coast.

Serang

Serang is the capital of Banten Province and the administrative center of Serang Regency. The administrative center of the regency and the capital of the province is the independent municipality of Serang (Kota Serang).

Serang is about 10 km from Old Banten, the province’s former capital. Merak, a major port and ferry terminal, is located just west of the regency. Serang is bounded by Java Sea to the north, Tangerang Regency to the east, Lebak Regency and Pandeglang Regency to the south, and Cilegon to the west.

Old Banten is located in Banten Bay, was once a center of the Sultanate of Banten. This area was a place where the Dutch ships landed for the first time in Indonesia. In this area there are 2 sites of religious history, that is the Great Mosque and the Avalokitesvara Temple.

Some treasures from China was found in the area of Banten Lama, like a dragon-shaped jade statue of a fairly large as well as some luxurious furnishings of the same material. The existence of the objects that are very worth it turned out to escape the attention of local governments, and reputedly is still owned by the inventor of such property.

Most of the Serang region of lowlands, except on the border with Pandeglang there are a series of mountains, with peaks of Karang Mount (1778 m). The most inhabitant in Serang are live in north side of the town. The language spoken is the language used by the Sundanese community in the south, and Banten Java language, or known by the Java language of Serang, which is mostly used in the north shore area. They are mostly muslim.

Because it is consider as lowland, then the most visited destination is the beach. Otherwise, there are visitors that coming for the historical sites in Serang.

Pandeglang

Pandeglang is a regency in Banten province with the capital of the same city. This rgency is bordered to the north of Serang, Lebak District in the East, and the Indonesian Ocean in the west and south. Its area also includes the island of Panaitan to the west, separated by the Strait of Panaitan, and number of small islands in the Indian Ocean, including the Deli Island and Tinjil Island.

Ujung Kulon Peninsula is the most western tip in Java island, where there are wildlife reserves and there is one-horned rhino animal protection that is now almost extinct.

Pandeglang economic centers are located in two cities between Pandeglang City and Labuan. Most of the region is lowland and bumpy terrain. There are series of mountainous southern region. River that flows among Ciliman River flowing westward, and Cibaliung River which flows to the south.

Pandeglang has numbers of destination, the beaches are so beautiful. For instance, carita beach, anyer beach, tanjung lesung beach, karangsari beach, cikoromoy cold spring, bama beach and Ujung Kulon National Park.

Banten

Banten is one of Indonesia Provinces that stand on the tip of Java Island. Formerly was a part of West Java Province, but on 2000 was separated and become a single province. The administrative city is located on Serang city.

Banten at early begin was a port city with the busiest activity and prosperous people. Also, Banten was the most important port from Sunda Kingdom. When it was become a part of Sultanate of Banten, Banten became the biggest port city on South East Asia as big as Malaka and Makassar city port. On early 17th Century AD Banten was one of the important commercial center in the international trade route in Asia.

On 5th Century Banten was part of Tarumanegara Kingdom. And there was inscriptions relic found, named inscriptions of Lebak or inscription of Cidanghiyang. The inscription was found on 1947, it is written on Sanskrit language and pallawa letter. The contents of the inscription was glorifying the courage of Purnawarman king. After the collapse of the kingdom Tarumanagara which was attacked by Srivijaya kingdom.

The inhabitant that live on Banten is dominated by Banten and Sunda people. Others are about Javanese, betawi and Tionghoa. Beside, the indigenous people of Banten is Baduy tribe. Baduy Dalam tribe is a real Sundanese which is still hold the old way of living and anti modernization.

The Baduy are generally stay in the river basins in the mountains of Kendeng Ciujung. This area is known as the heritage area from an old ancestor, which must be maintained and guarded well, and should not be destroyed.

the people of Banten is spoke by dialect of ancient Sunda Language. The dialect is categorized as the informal language of Modern bahasa Sunda, some other ethnic is spoke according to the ethnic like Javanese Banten dialect or using Bahasa with Betawi dialect.

The Potential things and cultural distinctiveness of Banten, is coming from martial art of Pencak silat and Debus.

Debus is kind of martial art from Banten. This art was created in the 16th century, in the reign of Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin. Debus, is an art of human abilities to perform of an extraordinary things like, immune of sharp weapons, immune to fire, drinking mercury water, fry an egg on the head and others.

Other tourist attraction from Banten is coming from some tourism objects like Taman National Ujung Kulon, Dua Island or Bird Island, Umang Island, Krakatau Volcanic mountain, and others.
